Ruto's Upcoming Gusii Tour Sparks Speculation as Osoro Hints at Major Projects

Residents across the Gusii region are eagerly waiting for President William Ruto's planned visit after fresh details emerged about what could be unveiled during the tour.

While political observers have been linking the anticipated announcements to possible realignments ahead of the 2027 General Election, South Mugirango MP and National Assembly Majority Whip Silvanus Osoro has moved to set the record straight.

According to Osoro, the President's visit, scheduled to run from November 9 to November 11, will primarily focus on development projects aimed at addressing some of the region's long-standing concerns.

The lawmaker revealed that several road projects are expected to feature prominently during the tour. Among them are the Sengeny-Openda-Karungu-Kiagware Road and the Nyakeyo-Nyamasege-Nyakorere-Moma roads, projects that residents have been pushing for over the years.

Osoro suggested that more announcements could be in store, hinting that locals should prepare for additional surprises once the final programme is released.

The remarks come amid growing public curiosity after reports of major announcements began circulating, with many assuming the visit would be used to unveil new political alliances.

However, Osoro maintained that the focus remains on tangible development and infrastructure rather than political drama.

Attention is also expected to shift to stalled and ongoing projects in the region, including Nyamira Stadium and the Suneka Airstrip, where leaders have been under pressure to provide progress updates.

The MP further indicated that work at Suneka Airstrip is already underway, urging critics to visit the site and witness the progress for themselves.

Another project likely to excite sports enthusiasts is Kisii Stadium, which Osoro indicated could be completed by February next year if the current pace of construction is maintained.

With the President's visit drawing closer, residents of Kisii and Nyamira counties are now watching closely to see whether the promised projects and surprises will finally translate into visible development on the ground.

Milk, Not Manifestos: Why Senator Tabitha Karanja Says She Quit UDA

When politicians change parties, the explanation is usually about principle, loyalty or the party's direction. Nakuru Senator Tabitha Karanja has given a far more everyday reason for leaving President William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA) for Rigathi Gachagua's Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP): the lack of milk on the market. Karanja named the milk situation as one of the reasons behind her decision. It is an unusually specific grievance for a defection announcement, and it puts a household product at the center of a political story that is normally told through power struggles and alliances. Her move comes hours after Gathoni Wamuchomba announced she was leaving UDA to defend her position on another ticket. Both exits point to the Mt Kenya region, where UDA has been losing members to the DCP ahead of next year's general election. What remains unclear is how much the milk complaint weighs against the other factors that typically drive such moves, and whe...
