Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai has responded to Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina after she said she would submit a 500-page document containing evidence of alleged registration of non-Kenyans as voters ahead of the 2027 General Election.
In a post on social media, Alai questioned whether the size of the document was meant to intimidate anyone. "The number of pages makes you think you are intimidating anyone?" he wrote. The post does not say whether he accepts or rejects the allegations underneath it.
Maina had said Parliament asked her to provide evidence that non-Kenyans have been registered as voters. She said she was ready to submit the 500-page document, adding, "We must sanitize this nation!!!"
The contents of the document have not been independently verified, and the allegations should not be treated as proven.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has dismissed claims of illegal voter registration and unlawful voter transfers, saying it has not received credible evidence to support them. It has urged anyone with verifiable evidence of malpractice to submit it for investigation.
Any material Maina presents will therefore need to be examined to see whether it supports her claims. As the exchange continues, attention will stay on whether she produces the document and how the IEBC and Parliament respond.
