Missing Since June, Found in September: The Gap Investigators Need the Public to Help Fill

Ivy Anyango, a 22-year-old Cooperative University student, was last heard from on or around June 9, 2026. Her mother, Jackline Matunga, said Ivy's last message indicated she had returned to Rongai, but later attempts to reach her failed. Ivy reportedly went missing around the time she lost her phone.

On September 5, 2026, a caretaker reported decomposing remains in a man-made reservoir behind hostels in Athi River. Police could not immediately establish the woman's identity because the body appeared to have been in the water for some time. It was taken to Machakos Level Five Hospital mortuary for identification and a postmortem.

Ms Matunga identified the remains through a wristband and a hairstyle. "The wristband was intact, and that is how I identified her," she said. The family is now awaiting DNA results, though police believe the body could be Ivy's.

Between June 9 and September 5 lies a gap of nearly three months that nobody has yet accounted for. The matter has been reported to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, which is expected to establish how she reached the hostel. No suspect has been named, and the circumstances of her death remain unclear. Her family and friends are appealing to anyone who saw or communicated with her from June onwards to come forward.

Friends described her as a kind student who shared a house with a roommate in Rongai and often travelled to Athi River to visit friends.

ODM Politician Warns Ruto: These Individuals Are Unfit for Appointment

R obert Alai has recently expressed his views on the matter of former governors being appointed by President William Ruto. According to Alai, governors who have served more than two terms should not be considered for any appointments. He further emphasized that President Ruto should avoid appointing anyone who has already served as governor for two terms, suggesting that this group should be completely excluded from consideration. Alai's argument seems to stem from a desire for a change in leadership and the introduction of new ideas into the government system. He is advocating for action to be taken, indicating that reappointing former governors who have had a substantial impact on their respective counties could impede the progress and transformation necessary for national development.
