National Assembly Minority Whip Junet Mohamed has claimed that Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and his allies, who fell out with the Orange Democratic Movement, have been calling him at night to ask for a way back into the party.
Speaking at a political gathering, Junet challenged the group to state their intentions publicly and approach the party during the day, rather than contacting him privately at night. The Suna East MP said the calls suggest Sifuna and his allies want to return to ODM after their differences with the party's leadership. He urged them to stop the late-night calls and come forward openly if they truly want to rejoin.
His remarks come amid ongoing disagreements within ODM over the party's leadership, political direction, and preparations for the 2027 General Election. Sifuna has been at the centre of the divisions since his removal as ODM secretary-general, a position that made him one of the party's most influential officials. The dispute has exposed differences between leaders who support the current leadership and those who want a different approach.
The alleged calls and their purpose remain claims made by Junet. Sifuna's response was not immediately available.
