Fire Damages Building in Rongai's Mbagathi Estate as Residents Question Emergency Response

A major fire broke out at a building in Mbagathi Estate, behind Maasai Mall in Rongai, Kajiado County, on Tuesday, October 27, causing extensive damage to the rooftop.

Footage from the scene showed flames engulfing the upper part of the building, and later images showed the roof badly damaged. The fire was put out after emergency responders and water bowsers arrived. Reports say it did not spread to neighbouring buildings, even though they stand close by.

The cause of the fire is not yet known. The number of casualties, if there were any, has not been confirmed, and the extent of damage to the building and the property inside has yet to be established.

Witnesses voiced frustration over how long firefighters took to arrive while the fire continued to spread. One witness said he feared the building could be completely destroyed before the fire brigade got there, and criticised how the county handles emergencies. These are the views of residents, and no response from county officials was included in the report.

Authorities have not released a full assessment of the damage or any further details about what happened. The incident has renewed concern among residents about emergency preparedness and response times in densely populated areas.

ODM Politician Warns Ruto: These Individuals Are Unfit for Appointment
