Rigathi Gachagua has shifted blame for his impeachment, saying the real betrayal came from allies in Kenya Kwanza, not ODM.
In a candid interview, the DCP leader said Sifuna’s vote was not betrayal because they were not in the same camp. “In my community, a betrayal by an outsider is not betrayal,” he explained. “The betrayal is with the Kenya Kwanza team. These are people we campaigned with.”
Gachagua accused ODM of simply playing politics, noting that removing him was a strategy to weaken Ruto’s grip on Mount Kenya. He argued that the impeachment left Ruto vulnerable, forcing him to explain to the region why his deputy was ousted.
The remarks highlight Gachagua’s effort to reframe the impeachment as a liability for Ruto, while positioning himself as a victim of broken promises within Kenya Kwanza.
