ODM Party Leader Oburu Odinga was photographed enjoying an evening walk in London on September 14, 2026.
Images shared by TV47 Digital show the veteran politician leaning on a walking stick, wearing a dark hoodie and trousers while chatting with people outside a glass-fronted building. He was accompanied by members of his team.
The photos come days after Oburu confirmed his trip to the United Kingdom on September 10, 2026.
According to the caption accompanying the photos, Oburu traveled to the UK for a routine medical check-up and rest.
The 83-year-old leader had said the trip was advised by his doctors and party officials. He described it as a thorough evaluation that comes naturally with advancing age, adding that it also gave him time to rest and recharge.
Oburu took over ODM leadership after the death of his brother, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, in October 2025. He described his time away as a test of the party's strength without him.
Deputy Party Leaders Simba Arati and Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir were left in charge of daily party operations, alongside the National Central Committee and the secretariat.
ODM Communications Director Philip Etale had earlier confirmed that the trip was a regular medical check-up. He said Oburu was doing fine and had also met Kenyans living in London for political discussions.
The London trip came shortly after a brief hospital visit in Nairobi in early September that had raised public concern. Oburu had clarified then that it was only a general check-up and that his health was good.
He has promised to personally inform Kenyans if any serious health issue arises.
