Nairobi Woman, 18, Arrested for Allegedly Smuggling Escape Tools to Rape Suspects at Ruai Police Station

An 18-year-old Nairobi woman has been arrested after allegedly attempting to smuggle tools into Ruai Police Station to help three suspects held there escape custody.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Christine Njoki Gitau arrived at the station carrying a meal of rice and meat, requesting to see three friends being detained there. Officers inspecting the food reportedly discovered a pair of pliers and a metal shear hidden inside the meal.

The three suspects she was visiting were identified as Emmanuel Bosire, Ismael Arisa, and Brian Gatheru, who are being held over allegations of robbery with violence and gang rape. Investigators allege the men ran an anonymous TikTok account used to lure young women before assaulting and robbing them.

Police say the discovery of the hidden tools led to Gitau's immediate arrest, and detectives are now working to establish how the items made it into the station and whether anyone else was involved in the alleged escape plan.

The DCI noted that officers routinely inspect items brought in for people in custody specifically to prevent attempts like this, and reminded the public that helping — or attempting to help — someone escape lawful custody is a criminal offence in itself.

Authorities have urged members of the public to report any suspicious activity to the relevant authorities.

He further emphasized that President Ruto should avoid appointing anyone who has already served as governor for two terms, suggesting that this group should be completely excluded from consideration. This stance has sparked a significant amount of discussion among Kenyans on various social media platforms, with many individuals sharing their perspectives on the issue. Alai's argument seems to stem from a desire for a change in leadership and the introduction of new ideas into the government system. He is advocating for action to be taken, indicating that reappointing former governors who have had a substantial impact on their respective counties could impede the progress and transformation necessary for national development. This perspective reflects...
