Nairobi Police Commander Warns Against Political Rally in CBD Ahead of Jacaranda Event

Nairobi Police Commander Issa Mohamud has warned organisers of the Linda Mwananchi rally against holding a political procession in the central business district.

The warning was issued on September 12, 2026. This was a day before the planned rally on September 13.

The rally was set to begin at All Saints Cathedral. It was to pass through Gikomba, Burma Market and Jogoo Road before ending at Jacaranda Grounds.

Addressing reporters in Nairobi, the commander said Nairobi would not be allowed to become a battleground for political rivalry.

"We will not allow Nairobi to become a battleground for political supremacy, and political competition must never degenerate into mobilisation of violence," he said.

The statement came amid tension between the Linda Mwananchi camp and ODM.

Caroli Omondi, in an interview on NTV, alleged that ODM had previously organised attacks on Linda Mwananchi members in Homa Bay, Kakamega, Busia and Kisumu. He also claimed there was a mild attempt in Mombasa that was averted.

ODM Secretary General denied the claims. The official said ODM had fought for democratic space in Kenya and had no plan to disrupt the rally.

"We do not even have time to plan anything evil. We wish them well," the official said.

The official asked security agencies to investigate rumours linking the party to planned disruptions.

ODM Politician Warns Ruto: These Individuals Are Unfit for Appointment

R obert Alai has recently expressed his views on the matter of former governors being appointed by President William Ruto. According to Alai, governors who have served more than two terms should not be considered for any appointments. He further emphasized that President Ruto should avoid appointing anyone who has already served as governor for two terms, suggesting that this group should be completely excluded from consideration. This stance has sparked a significant amount of discussion among Kenyans on various social media platforms, with many individuals sharing their perspectives on the issue. Alai's argument seems to stem from a desire for a change in leadership and the introduction of new ideas into the government system. He is advocating for action to be taken, indicating that reappointing former governors who have had a substantial impact on their respective counties could impede the progress and transformation necessary for national development. This perspective reflects...
