Details have emerged about what a Nairobi OCS allegedly saw on her girlfriend's phone before allegedly pushing her from the sixth floor of an apartment building in Thome Estate.
Investigators and family members say the incident began after the officer allegedly saw messages from another man on Nicole Omondi's phone, sparking accusations of infidelity that led to a heated argument.
Omondi, 25, who is being treated at Kenyatta National Hospital for severe spinal injuries and multiple fractures, told relatives the officer accused her of cheating before assaulting her. According to her family, she said she was repeatedly struck on the head with a bottle during the confrontation.
As the violence continued, Omondi reportedly stepped onto the balcony, attempting to get air and escape the attack. She claims the officer followed her, dragged her back toward the apartment, and eventually pushed her over the edge from the sixth floor. She survived after landing on iron sheets and razor wire below the building.
She is currently paralysed from the waist down and awaiting surgery.
Relatives said the couple had returned home after an evening of drinking when the dispute broke out. During the altercation, Omondi reportedly managed to call her father while crying, telling him she was being assaulted. The call cut off, and when he called back, the officer allegedly answered and told him she was "disciplining" Omondi before hanging up.
Neighbours reported hearing screams from the apartment, and investigators later found broken bottles and blood at the scene. A passerby found Omondi after the fall and alerted emergency responders. While receiving initial treatment, she asked staff to contact her sister and a close friend, which is how her family learned what had happened.
Her family is demanding a thorough, impartial investigation, alleging the officer had assaulted Omondi on previous occasions. Detectives from the DCI have reconstructed the scene and are reviewing security footage and building access records.
The case has drawn widespread public concern, with many Kenyans calling for accountability and a swift resolution to the investigation.
